The Alliance for Music Education Equity (AMEE) is a collaborative coalition of organizations dedicated to advancing equity, access, inclusion, and systemic transformation in music education throughout the Denver metropolitan area and beyond.
This AMEE concluding event celebrates the music, diversity, and the AMEE mission! Join us for this free event at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E Alameda, Denver, CO. It's a couple blocks west of the Greek Orthodox gold dome cathedral.
An initial Lead Team called music organizations together in 2019 to imagine a new network addressing inequities in music education throughout metro Denver. In our 2019 survey of 33 music organizations, 72% noted that equity is a top priority, citing inequity as a primary descriptor of the current music education landscape.Â
The vision was to create a non-profit backbone organization to affect change beyond what any individual organization could accomplish. The Lead Team worked diligently, and our 501(c)(3) status was granted in 2023. The Lead Team then became the AMEE Board.
With the new non profit status came the desire to expand the AMEE reach and effectiveness. Ultimately, with shifts in non-profit granting, the AMEE board was unable to secure the solid funding stream needed to support an Executive Director.
While AMEE continues as a network of passionate organizations and leaders, AMEE is no longer operating as a non profit organization as of July 1, 2026.
However, the passions, values, and goals of AMEE continue in the networking and collaboration of member organizations.
